18. When we began work on the CDPD system specifications, it was clear that we needed to use concise terminology. We were not interested in unnecessarily inventing new terms, so we used existing terminology as much as possible. We chose the ISO terminology as a base, not because we were ”ISO-bigots” but because we were not as familiar with them, and thus less likely to be burdened with unspoken and differing interpretations which could cause confusion. Besides, OSI terminology sounds much more sophisticated.
